Terms of Service for Britain Direct

Last Updated: 20 August 2025

1. Introduction & Our Philosophy

Welcome to Britain Direct. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our platform. Our mission is to provide a space for British patriots to engage in open dialogue, guided by a firm commitment to freedom of expression as protected under UK law. This document outlines your rights, your responsibilities, and our approach to content moderation within this legal framework.

Please Note: Britain Direct is a privately owned platform, not a registered business. It is a community project created and managed by a British citizen living abroad in Southeast Asia, with the goal of providing a dedicated space for genuine British people who are exhausted by the current social and political climate in the UK.

By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use Britain Direct. By using our platform, you confirm that you meet this requirement and are competent to enter into these Terms.

3. Your Responsibilities and Prohibited Conduct

While we champion open discourse, you are responsible for the content you post. You agree not to use Britain Direct for any unlawful purpose or to post content that violates UK law, including but not limited to:

  • Incitement to Hatred or Violence: Content that stirs up hatred against a group based on race, religion, or sexual orientation, as defined by the Public Order Act 1986 and the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006.
  • Illegal Threats & Harassment: Content that is grossly offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing, as defined by the Communications Act 2003 and the Malicious Communications Act 1988.
  • Defamation: False statements that harm the reputation of an individual or entity, as defined by the Defamation Act 2013.
  • Terrorism: Content that promotes or glorifies terrorism.
  • Privacy Violations: Sharing someone's private information without their consent (doxxing), which may breach their rights under Article 8 of the ECHR.

4. Content Moderation and Enforcement

To protect our community and comply with our legal duties (such as those under the Online Safety Act 2023), we reserve the right to moderate content. Our goal is to apply these rules proportionately and transparently. Enforcement actions may include:

  • Removing content that violates these Terms.
  • Issuing warnings to users.
  • Temporarily or permanently suspending accounts.
  • Reporting illegal content to the relevant authorities.
  • Utilising our internal "Rats' Nest" protocol to track users who have been removed for severe violations, in order to protect the community from future harm.

We will strive to provide a clear appeals process for users who believe their content was removed in error, respecting the procedural fairness inherent in Article 10.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of the content you create on Britain Direct. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your content on our platform. The Britain Direct name, logo, and platform technology are our exclusive property.

6. The Human Rights Act and Our Platform

The Human Rights Act 1998, particularly through its incorporation of the ECHR, shapes our legal environment. While Section 10 of the HRA deals with the government's power to amend laws found incompatible with the ECHR, its impact on us is indirect. Legislative changes following court rulings (e.g., a "declaration of incompatibility" under Section 4) could alter our legal duties. We are committed to monitoring these legal developments to ensure our platform remains compliant and continues to serve as a bastion for lawful, patriotic expression.

7. Payment Terms and Subscriptions

Britain Direct offers subscription-based membership tiers to support the platform's ongoing development, hosting costs, and operational expenses. By subscribing to any paid tier, you agree to the following terms:

  • Subscription-Based Payments: All payments are subscription-based with no annual fees. This ensures you are never out of pocket - you can cancel at any time without losing money on unused periods.
  • No Refunds: We do not offer refunds for subscription payments. The costs are used to support ongoing platform fees, hosting, development, and operational expenses.
  • Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Britain Direct does not store your payment information.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.
  • Price Changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Britain Direct is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Britain Direct and its affiliates will not be liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, our platform.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be on this page. By continuing to use Britain Direct after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
